God must love me!
Really, he must.
And I am not a believer.
Today, even though I didn't planned it, I just happen to be nearby, so I decided to stop there, I went to bookstore called "Cheap books". This shop make honour to its name, because various book like those printed some years ago, or last few pieces from stock, or (I strongly suspect that) those which didn't sell well are main merchandise there, and they are sold really cheap. But you cannot wait for too long, if you want something from this shop. (Yeah, no restocking. Once it is sold, it is sold for definitely.)And it is not a secondhand bookstore, all the books are (relatively) new and unused. It's great for christmas shopping.
And you can find real treasures there.
Which is what happened to me today.
So, now I am proud owner of "Shadows over Baker Street", fist czech edition printed in 2007, (of course in perfect shape) and it cost me only 17,- Czech crowns. Let me repeat: seventeen. It is less than 1 USD!
I feel fabulous! ^^

I've heard about that famous pastiche but I never read it. I know it has Lovecraftian influences.
I have many Sherlock Holmes pastiches besides the canon, some with vampires! I absolutely love him. :)

Yup. I proudly confess. ^^
If only Lovecraftian influences. Those are Adventures of Sherlock Holmes in the world of horror of H.P.Lovecraft. It is overlovecrafted. ^^ And sadly, it has the typical flaw of short stories anthology from various authors. Most stories are average, some are feak and few are great. But I love this book, I borrowed it from library many times.
You should read "Study in Emerald" from Neil Gaiman, it is the absolute best lovecraftian Sherlock Holmes story. (Even better when you know the original "Study in Scarlet" from A.C.Doyle.)
S.H. pastiches are chapter for itself. ^^

That's a really cool find! I haven't read Sherlock Holmes in forever (can't find my copies at home D:) or Lovecraft (which I don't have any copies of). Waah, I really should sometime in the future reread them again. Lovely memories (and if I ever get a Scottish terrier I'm gonna name mine Sherlock. That name is just perfect for them.).
Neil Gaiman is awesome. I'll go look for his pastiche, because Lovecraft + Sherlock + Gaiman = what can go wrong? His Larry Talbot fanfictions are fucking amazing and some of my favorite modern werewolf short stories.

Oh, cool. That would be awesome. Almost like this!
The equation : Lovecraft + Sherlock + Gaiman = what can go wrong? Hell yes! Agree.
Actually, you could even omit the first two parts. They only add awesomeness to Gaiman's already awesome writing. ^^

You certainly should read some Holmes stories. Then you will understand those hidden jokes in BBC Sherlock. (I actually cried from laughing during 'Scandal in Belgravia', there were so many!)
